What Mac apps should I use?

My friend Alex is setting up a new Mac and asked what apps he needed to get. I know there are tons of “apps to get” lists, but here’s the list I gave him. It’s a short list, because I think that people tend to install a bunch of stuff they will rarely use. Chrome [...]

iPhone app best practice: Lite

Techcrunch recently posted an overview of an internal study the appfarm performed and blogged about. It seems there is some debate in the wild about whether it is a good idea to provide free, lite, versions of paid apps.  The gist of the story? Publishing to YouTube from the iPhone 3GS = WIN.

I got my new iPhone on Friday. I have been smitten with my gen1 iPhone since forever, and I skipped the 3G upgrade because I was content … adding 3G + GPS just wasn't enough to make me shift. But with the iPhone OS 3.0 upgrade  & the full set of newness coming down with the [...]

My biggest Leopard borkd feature to date

In general, I have really been loving Leopard. There are some hiccups and some of my apps (like Mail) have been acting up a bit. That said, I feel like the experience has been really positive overall. Here’s something I don’t like This is what I get when I try to download iCal events. It [...]

Veddy Tweetsteresting

Here is a very interesting use of Twitter: the LA Fire Department using tweets to communicate the goings on of the crew. Thanks @Scobelizer for passing the word. I was a reluctant critic of the Twitter fad when it hit the streets like wild fiyah at SXSW Interactive 2007. Since then, I have become an [...]

Yahoo! Go. How far does it … go??

Over the past week, an awesome co-worker of mine and I were rapping about rad work stuffs, and he whipped out his Blackberry and bopped over to Yahoo! Go. The potential on this thing is quite amazing. It’s chock full of widgetry, quick and delicious looking, but I am sad. I am sad because those [...]
