More than a decade building amazing sites for giant mega-corporations, startups, artists, craftsmen, non-profits and small businesses. It’s something I love to do.
The Land Trust of Napa County preserves greenspace in my hometown. I love the work they do, and that’s why I was so sad that their website seemed so stale. It turned out that they had recently completed a costly redesign; unfortunately, it had been developed in static HTML. Updating the site was brutal (and expensive), so it rarely happened.
I volunteered my services to help them revamp the site in WordPress. They had already contracted with Folia Design for a full identity overhaul, so I worked with them both to create an information architecture that showcased their content, and provided for the hooks they wanted for managing social media and updating their content.

Jennifer June is an amazing and passionate lover of boots. An acclaimed author of Cowboy Boots, The Art and Sole, she’s been blogging and providing resources to the world of boot lovers since 2000! She’d outgrown her mixture of hand-coded HTML and Blogger, so she enlisted me to help bring her into the now.

As a new restaurant in the Napa Valley, Norman Rose needed full identity, print, web and social media marketing attention. We designed menus, business cards, signage, custom WordPress templates and integrated their Flickr, Twitter and Facebook streams.
“Wow, this is easy-peasy.” — Christina Rivera, Norman Rose Tavern, regarding updating her new website.

David Rogerson of Ace Tattoo needed a website that would showcase his work. I pulled a ton of photos from his great Flickr archive, customized and deployed a WordPress theme, built out a Facebook & Twitter profile, and stitched them all together so that he can deploy new images, build his fan-base, and own his brand.

I work with Charter Oak Bank to help them reach out to their customers online with the same level of authenticity, accuracy and helpfulness as they do in their branches. I’ve helped on a variety of topics from content ideation to training on how to utilize Twitter and Facebook to engage their customers, to usability testing their new mobile application.
“Clay is a knowledgeable visionary – helping us take our web and social media to the next level. His creative approach to our marketing has been very beneficial.” — Brian Kelly, CEO of Charter Oak Bank.

As Facebook is the largest photo sharing website on the web, Snapfish aimed to leverage the existing Snapfish systems in place to provide value to Facebook users. Rather than focus on a simple create and buy flow, I helped to focus the team around creating a rich interactive virtual gifting app that took advantage of Facebook’s viral capabilities. Launching November 2009, Snapfish Photo Gifts allows Facebook users to create fun virtual gifts with their images as well as their friends’ images. These gifts can be placed on other users’ walls and re-gifted to other users. All gifts can be purchased in real form through integration with the Snapfish systems.
“Very, very nice. When should I get my personal chief marketer to start using it?” — Ben Nelson, General Manager of Snapfish, regarding the new Snapfish Photo Gifts app on Facebook.

I overhauled the Napa Valley Yacht Club website, launching it on WordPress, with Facebook Fan Page integration. Because of the nature of their club & membership, it was important that they have a reliable and fairly turnkey reservation system for events; I set up a calendaring and event RSVP system with Google Docs & Calendar.

I overhauled Grange Sonoma’s web identity, building out a custom WordPress installation giving them full content management capabilities, integrated a rich online storefront, and linked up social media components.

Global Package was using a flat html site with no SEO. They were happy with their current branding, and didn’t want a significant overhaul of their identity. I built a custom WordPress template for them and linked their website to Twitter and Facebook using HootSuite. I also built out custom VerticalResponse email templates for their monthly Global Package newsletters.

I built out a simple and robust gallery format for Richard Carter Studio.

Rob at Napa Valley Bee Company is a bee-thinker. He’s also an artist and an apiarist who is taking the Bay Area beekeeping community by storm. He needed a simple way to get his words in front of more people. I set him up with a simple publishing system, linked it up with the social webs and taught him how to work between Flickr, Facebook and YouTube to spread his knowledge around.
